Karen's Story

When my husband and I started the business in 2017, we read Scaling Up by Verne Harnish and the team at Gazelles.  We applied the principals to every business we interacted with and discussed how each was running into trouble due to structural and organizational problems.  We talked at length about how to build a team that would have permission to grow and thus nourish the company.  It took about 5 years before we understood what we’d be looking for in a team and found people to grow with.  (Aimee, Maria, Katherine, Pamela, Francesca, Jonnie)

Company identity starts with our individual perceptions.  I can say for myself that my perception is based on something along the lines of Simon Sinek’s book, Together is Better.  It reads like a children’s book that can be used as a team building tool.  A unique group of individuals find each other along a journey and face challenges together.  The result is an evolution in their mindset.  They become more open-minded, flexible, and adaptable, and their success together is based on learning from experience rather than being, or pretending, to be perfect.

Our professional knowledge comes from experience, working together, not working like we are in a mill, but by studying and discussing with each other as we go.  Because of our company culture, we foster the environment to retain our knowledge for future application.  We are always building on innovation.  We are here to support our clients and help them raise the bar, expand their vision on what they can do with their business.

My leadership philosophy can be summed up by a quote from Together is Better, “ A star wants to see himself rise to the top.  A leader wants to see those around him become stars.
